X-men's Gambit And Rogue Join The Battle Royale

X-Men's most star-crossed lovers, the card-slinging Gambit and the white-haired Rogue, have joined the Fortnite universe as the latest item shop skins. The pair are also joined by a bevy of new X-Men-themed cosmetics. It's a little late for Valentine's Day, but we don't mind when love (and explosive cards) are in the air.

Below, we've got a guide to all the cosmetics included with Gambit and Rogue and how to get them. Gambit's classic trenchcoat and facemask are on full display, but he's also got some classic X-Men trinkets to bring onto the battlefield.

LeBeau's Bo Pickaxe: For the unfamiliar, Gambit's real name is Remy Etienne LeBeau, and one of his most iconic tools is his telescoping staff. Handy for dealing damage and the occasional dance number.
Kinetic Cards back bling: Of course, it wouldn't be Gambit without exploding playing cards, and this fiery back bling lets you flaunt the mutant power without worrying about blowing yourself up.
Suit Surfer glider: One of Fortnite's rare gliders that you can actually surf on, it's basically a giant fiery card.
Deal 'Em Out emote (seen below)

For movie fans, Rogue might be one of the most familiar X-Men. Originally played by Anna Paquin in 2000's X-Men, Rogue's a bit of a tragic tale, what with her mutant power to sap the lifeforce and powers from anyone she meets. Fortunately, in the decades since her introduction, she's figured out how to manage her powers and make a physical connection with her husband Gambit. Now she's beating up dudes in Fortnite. Here's what's included with Rogue.

Xavier's School for Gifted Youngsters back bling: A big green X on your back might make you a bigger target, but at least you'll look cool while being shot at.
Holo X-Axe: A new pickaxe that's one part energy sword and other part X-Men branding.
Blackbird glider: Easily the star of the cosmetics show, you can finally swoop in on the X-Jet.
    Hands Off emote (seen above)

Gambit and Rogue should stay in the Fortnite item shop for a couple of days, but they've already been in there for a little while, so don't wait if you're absolutely dying to play as one of the superhero lovebirds.

You can buy Rogue and Gambit as a bundle for 2,100 V-bucks, but be warned that Epic has split up the cosmetics a bit unusually this time. If you want to get any of the pickaxes or gliders, you'll have to buy those separately or in a different bundle.

When you're done with the mutants, check out our Fortnite guides page for more info on the newest skins and challenge walkthroughs.

Tales Of Arise Is A Remasters of Older Games

Tales of Arise is the most recent installment in the long-running Tales Of JRPG franchise by Bandai Namco, having been a critical and commercial success on top of it. Praised for its stellar combat, interesting world design, its way of blending the fantasy and sci-fi genres together, alongside an anime aesthetic makes it a very unique game. With Arise now having been released for nearly over a month, a survey was released by Bandai Namco asking for feedback about the game. This survey contains several questions one would expect when asking feedback from a player.

These included general inquiries about the game's gameplay, presentation, and other aspects, all used to gather information for future use. However, the survey also had some questions that involved some of the older Tales Of games, which may indicate some interest in bringing these titles to current hardware. One of these questions asked is "Which of the following games would you like to play a remaster version of?" Many Tales games in the franchise are selectable choices in this survey, which includes the Tales of Xillia duology, Tales of Phantasia, Tales of the Abyss, and even the PSP exclusive Tales crossover Tales of the world-Radiant Mythology-.

With all of these games released on several consoles and covered several genres, there's a lot that haven't been brought over to modern technology in any official capacity. Another survey question asked, "Which of the following Tales of games would you be interested in seeing released in Europe?" presumably for Japan-exclusive games that were never released in the region. Of the selectable games in the survey that never made it to Europe included classic Tales games, including Tales of Rebirth, Tales of Destiny, and Tales of Destiny 2. That being said, as this is only a survey, this doesn't automatically mean that these prior titles are confirmed to be receiving new releases. With this Tales Of Arise survey now live, it gives fans a chance to let their voice be heard. Ideally, if demand is loud enough and fans take this survey, they may possibly see a remaster of their favorite entry from the series brought over to current consoles and PC. Fans have posted to social media rallying other fans of the series to participate in the survey, asking them to raise their voice and let their desire for these potential remasters be known. Tales of Arise is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.

Valorant 3.01 Patch Notes: Many Bugs Squashed

Valorant's 3.01 update is live on all platforms, and it makes some minor shifts to the game in the wake of the major changes that the game's 3.0 patch brought forth. In particular, it fixes a nasty bug that allowed Sage to place Barrier Orbs on projectiles in the air, as well as some unintended use cases across the board.

The patch also fixes a bug that allowed Skye to activate her Guiding Light flash while suppressed, as well as the ability to heal KAY/0 while he's downed as part of his NULL/CMD ultimate. Also, some griefers were apparently exploiting the chat color options to impersonate system messages, so that's been fixed as well.

Valorant patch 3.0 made a number of wide-ranging changes to the game, including changing how fast signature abilities charge and revamping the cost of most abilities in the game. It also reconfigured the accuracy of all weapons while walking and running, as well as changing the cost of many of those weapons.

Sony Introduces First-Ever PS5 Beta Program

If you ever wanted to be among the first few to test out new PS5 features, now is your chance. Today, Sony introduced the first-ever PS5 system software beta program, which offers users the chance to test out new console features before they’re officially released. The program comes as Sony prepares to roll out a large system update later this year.

Beginning today, players can register for a chance to join the beta program on Playstation’s website. Registration is currently open to players over 18 years of age in the United States, Canada, Japan, the United Kingdom, Germany and France. If selected, players will receive an email with further instructions on how to download the beta version of the upcoming system software and how to report their feedback. Additionally, all selected players will automatically be eligible to test future beta software without having to re-register. Coming on the heels of April’s PS5 system update, this is all a part of an ongoing effort to improve the PS5 gaming experience. In the coming weeks, Sony will also share more details about what to expect with the forthcoming beta update. In related news, Sony will reportedly release a next-generation Playstation VR headset in 2022.

Warner Bros. Confirms Back 4 Blood Open Beta

Back 4 Blood will have an open beta for those who pre-order the game, Warner confirmed at Summer Games Fest. That seemed to be the end of it, but the study confirmed today that there will be a second beta on all platforms for anyone who wants to try it. There will also be cross-platform play, allowing us to thoroughly test the title. The pre-purchase benefit, on the other hand, gives you access to the beta one week before its release, as well as access to the open beta, which allows you to play Back 4 Blood for two weeks before its release.

Furthermore, there is a chance (low, according to Warner) that by registering on the title website, you will gain access to the closed beta even if you have not pre-purchased the game. Nothing else is required to access the beta. Subscriptions to PlayStation Plus or Xbox Live Gold are not required, nor is a prior payment (except in Japan and Germany), so this August will serve as the first open test for this game, which aspires to be as successful as Left 4 Dead. Of course, even if it only achieves half of its longevity and success, it will be a huge victory for Turtle Rock. It has also been confirmed that the game will be shown at E3 on June 13th and that there will be detailed PvP gameplay, as the game will not only have cooperative modes. These modes are available for testing during both betas. There will be five characters, their weapons, two cooperative maps, and two PvP maps in total. Back 4 Blood is a first-person shooter in which you must kill zombies in a world that has been wiped out by a virus. Only this band of “zombie killers” known as the “exterminators” survive. The game is the work of Warner and Turtle Rock Studios, a team of developers who worked on Valve’s exclusive title Left 4 Dead. Back 4 Blood’s closed beta will take place from August 5 to 9, while the open beta will take place from August 12 to 16. The game will be available for the PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.

Among Us Player Gets Game Running on a Nintendo Wii

Among Us made its console debut earlier in the month by coming to the Nintendo Switch, but that’s apparently not the only Nintendo console the game will run on. Through the proper setup, someone was able to get the game running on the Nintendo Wii, though it admittedly doesn’t run too well on the platform and is really just proof that the idea works more than anything else. The user who accomplished the feat shared a video of the project for the Among Us community to see along with an explanation for how things were done.

You can check out that video below that shows Among Us being controlled with a Wii Remote on a TV display. It’s choppy from the start and is not at all how one would want to play Among Us, but it at least works to some degree.

In an explanation provided within the comments of the post, Redditor BurritoSOFTWARE, the user responsible for this project, gave some insights on how it came to be.

“My Wii and PC are connected to my router with 2 ethernet adapters,” the user said. “Then, I used WiiVNC and TightVNC Server to stream Among Us off my PC to my Wii. This isn't practical or anything, more of a POC. It's really slow too, even with wired conns.”

The user added in a later edit that they press the “2” button on the Wii Remote to get the on-screen keyboard to appear.

To simplify the explanation, other users in the comments helpfully explained that the person basically used software to stream Among Us from the PC to the Wii which explains why the Wii Remote is controlling a mouse pointer on the display. This means that it’s technically the PC running Among Us which is then being streamed to the Wii, but considering how the console is over a decade old, this is probably as close as we’re going to get to seeing Among Us running on the Wii.

With Among Us already on the Nintendo Switch and apparently on the Wii in some capacity as well, the next console appearance to look forward to is the date it comes to Xbox consoles next year. We don’t have an exact release date for the Xbox version yet, but we know it’ll be included in Xbox Game Pass right when it launches on the Xbox family of consoles.

Gotham Knights Release Date Possibly Revealed

Did Warner Bros. Montreal just reveal the Gotham Knights release date? Back in August, WB Games finally revealed the next Batman game, Gotham Knights. At the time, the game was announced for PS5, PS4, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, and PC and given a 2021 release window. And so far, none of this has changed. In fact, we've seen nothing of the game since. However, in a new tweet celebrating Christmas, the developer seems to be hinting at something happening in July.

The tweet comes the way of the official Gotham Knights Twitter account, and on the surface level, seems to be of little significance. And this may be the case, however, fans couldn't help but notice the dates on the poster smackdown in the center of an accompanying image. More specifically, the image features an advertisement poster for a circus, which will be in town from July 16 to July 21, Tuesday through Sunday.

Now, these dates don't line up with 2021. Some fans think this a hint that the game will release sometime during this period, but it seems unlikely given that the dates don't match up. July 16, 2021 isn't a Tuesday, it's a Friday, but this is where things get a bit interesting. If you combine July 16 and July 21, you get July 16, 2021, which again is a Friday, the most common day for big games to release. As a result, some fans think this is a not-so-subtle nod and wink at the game's release date, or at the very least, something of significance, like a second trailer or a release date announcement.

For now, take all of this with a major grain of salt given that we are deep in speculative territory. That said, at the very least, it's an interesting theory, though it's hard to imagine Warner Bros. Montreal being this forward with a tease.

Nintendo Switch Leak Reveals Console's Original Design

A new Nintendo leak has revealed the original Nintendo Switch design, which looks nothing like the final product that released in 2017 and has been the best-selling console in the world ever since. 2020 has been a bad year for Nintendo from a security perspective, with leaks flying out of the Nintendo archives like crazy. The latest of these leaks reveals an early and the original design for what would end up becoming the Switch, and eventually the Switch Lite. Interestingly, not only does the original design look nothing like the final product, but it's actually closer to the Switch Lite than the traditional Switch.

As you can see below, the original design for the console boasts a screen that expands beyond the analog sticks in a way very reminiscent of a mobile phone display. In fact, the console is mostly just screen, with three small buttons at the bottom that prevents the face from being entirely a means to display.

If the design looks familiar, it's because it looks almost exactly like a "leaked" image of the console that made the rounds before it was revealed that was eventually written off as a hoax.

According to some documents that accompany the leak, the Nintendo Switch was originally going to support 3D functionality and be backward compatible with the Nintendo 3DS. Nintendo was also apparently looking at utilizing a 480p screen. Thankfully, it decided against this and made the screen 720p.

Of course, take all of this -- the images and the tidbits of information -- with a grain of salt given that all of it is info of the leaked variety. At the moment of publishing, Nintendo has not commented on this leak in any capacity and it's unlikely this will change.

Cyberpunk 2077 Developer Has Bad News for Those Looking Forward to Multiplayer

It looks like Cyberpunk 2077 multiplayer is tacking a backseat as CD Projekt Red scrambles to fix the single-player of the newly-released PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series S Xbox Series X, PC, and Google Stadia game. After years of anticipation and hype, Cyberpunk 2077 finally released earlier this month and it's been weighed down by many bugs and performance issues, particularly on PS4 and Xbox One. It's been a messy situation for the Polish developer, which is working hard to fix the various problems.

In addition to this, the developer is also working on proper next-gen versions for PS5 and Xbox Series X, and has already promised two meaty single-player DLC releases, which are likely already in the works as well. There's a lot on the plate of the developer right now, which also has a standalone multiplayer mode for the game in the works, though it sounds like it's being put on the backburner until the single-player is in a more suitable state on all platforms.

CD Projekt Red has already confirmed it will talk more about the game's multiplayer mode sometime in early 2021. And it sounds like it's sticking by this window. However, during a recent call with investors, CDPR CEO Adam Kicinski suggested that multiplayer is far from the priority right now. In fact, it sounds like it's on the mind of nobody at the developer right now.

“At the moment please let us handle the situation, and please let us make some more assessments – that’s still ahead of us; we don’t know yet, and we’re now focused on improving Cyberpunk," said Kicinski when asked about the game's multiplayer. "We’ll discuss this early next year.”

As you can see, Kicinski is sticking to the aforementioned timetable, but he also more or less suggests we may not be playing the multiplayer anytime soon.

Of course, this isn't great news for anyone looking forward to the game's multiplayer, but it's the right call by CD Projekt Red as it's unlikely anyone will care about the multiplayer experience until the core, single-player experience is improved.
