Music Composers Reveal What It’s Really Like Working With JYP Entertainment Idols

JYP Entertainment has some of the biggest and most popular groups in K-Pop, from TWICE, ITZY, Stray Kids, DAY6, 2PM, and many more. Although J.Y. Park and the artists are involved in writing the songs, a group of composers is there helping to create hits! JYP music composers KOBEE and Holy. M recently sat down with AYO and discussed everything from how to become a composer, writing iconic JYP songs, and much more! For KOBEE, it was a huge change for him when he started working with the group, which made him nervous. Yet, it was the personalities of the ITZY members that helped put him at ease.

It was my first time directing such a huge team, so I got really nervous. But, when I asked ITZY about things, they answered so well, like, ‘I think it’s like…’ So I was able to record in a comfortable and fun atmosphere. — KOBEE Another well-known group at JYP is Stray Kids, and they have gained attention for the songwriting skills of the sub-unit 3RACHA (Bang Chan, Changbin, and Han.) The next question asked whether their producing and writing talent meant that the composers didn’t have much work. KOBEE explained that the statement was half-wrong and half-right. In particular, he discussed what it was like working on the group’s recent track “Mixtape: OH” which saw the return of Hyunjin! Although he explained that they didn’t have to do much, it was still a collaboration of ideas. Working on the song ‘OH’ with them, we didn’t really need to do much since they understood the song well and gave lots of opinions. We shared ideas on parts we needed to think harder about. — KOBEE He also added that, although they didn’t need to do as much, it wasn’t as if they did nothing as the track was a collaboration effort between them and the members. We directed it together, suggested an idea while composing, and we all finish up. Half right. Half wrong. — KOBEE It seems as if, despite their fame and popularity, the JYP artists are still respectful and know how to work well with those around them! For many fans, it also shows just how hard composers work to help create amazing songs, despite not getting much, if any, credit for them!

Who Is Who: BLACKPINK’s Lisa Describes Her 5 Cats And Their Distinct Personalities

BLINKs all know that BLACKPINK‘s Lisa is a huge cat lover. Throughout the years, they have witnessed the singer adding new cats to her loving “L” family. Sometimes, however, it’s hard to remember which cat is which. Lisa fortunately gave us a rundown during her interview with W Korea. Check it out below! 1. Leo
First up is the oldest of the bunch, Leo! Lisa revealed that she knew he was the cat for her right away. This is the first one. The smartest, and I fell in love the moment I saw Leo. — Lisa The Scottish Fold was previously described to have a very “energetic” personality. He’s a cuddler who loves his mom as much as she loves him. 2. Luca
The second oldest is none other than Luca. He’s a male Ragdoll who was born on June 5, 2018. Unfortunately, Lisa wasn’t able to spend as much time with him as she would have liked because she was busy on tour. This led to him developing an independent and “chic” personality that she loves nonetheless. My second cat is Luca. The toughest. [He’s] cool and chic like a prince. — Lisa 3. Lily
We now move on to the only girl of the cat crew, Lily! She’s the daughter of Luca, having been born a year after him on June 14, 2019. It’s understandable why the two are so close. It’s no surprise that she’s treated just like a princess in the household! Lily is the third, the princess with the most love. — Lisa . Louis
Louis is one of the most distinguishable cats of Lisa’s thanks to his insatiable nature. He just loves food so much! Louis is the chubbiest but so cute, full of love. And he’s the loudest when he wants to eat. — Lisa In an episode of 24/365 With BLACKPINK, fans got to see Louis’ amusing eating habits. He couldn’t wait to eat his breakfast, even if it meant nibbling from the bowls of his siblings! 5. Lego
Finally, we can’t forget the maknae of the group, Lego! This adorable kitten is as energetic as expected of his age. Lisa praised him for being able to communicate with her easily. The youngest, Lego, is so upbeat and responds well. — Lisa From the brief video that Lisa posted on her Instagram page, it was evident that he was a lovable ball of sunshine!

9 K-Pop Songs That Incorporated Sign Language In Their Performance

Music is a form of communication that transcends the language barrier, and K-pop has proven this point time and time again. It has become a worldwide genre that is known and loved by many. And with so many fans around the globe, there are also many diverse K-pop experiences! To connect with their fans, some artists have performed some of their lyrics in sign language as part of their dance performances. Here are nine K-pop songs that incorporate sign language into their performances. 1. Weki Meki – “Butterfly” In celebration of the 2018 PyeongChang Winter Olympics, Weki Meki sent a beautiful message of support and encouragement to the participants through this mesmerizing anthem. And the best part? Their choreography is entirely made of their lyrics in sign language. Talk about sending a universal message! 2. LABOUM – “Heal Song” If you’re looking for a comfort song, LABOUM has got you covered. The lyrics give listeners strength to carry on and reassure them about doing a good job in their daily lives. At the end of the performance, the members sign the final chorus as they want their healing song to reach a wider audience. 3. BTOB – “Missing You” Incorporating sign language into the choreography for “Missing You” was BTOB’s idea, and their choreographer obliged. Signs of the lyrics, “A year went by as I was missing you,” are used in the dance routine, with a tweak made on the song’s title to look more like a dance move. The group even got to collaborate with one of their fans on a rendition of the song. 4. BOL4 – “First Love” Another song fully in sign language is “First Love” by BOL4. This sweet and innocent ballad takes its audience back in time to reminisce about their first love and all the little details that are part of those surging memories from the past. Adding sign language during this live performance is a nice touch to bring fans closer to the music. 5. Red Velvet – “Red Flavor” This summer jam needs no introduction, but here is a friendly recap just in case you may have missed any details. In the MV, the group seems quite preoccupied as they interview their respective fruits. At the lower left corner of the screen, you can see each member signing the interview part, similarly to what is seen during the news. This addition was included as a nod to Red Velvet’s Deaf fans.

This addition was included as a nod to Red Velvet’s Deaf fans. 7. CL – “I Quit” In one of her songs that was released back in 2019, CL expressed herself loud and clear. The rapper lends her voice to the MV as she sings about learning when to call things off and walk away for the sake of her well-being. Throughout the MV, her dancers beautifully sign the entire song, further delivering her message to her audience. 8. MAMAMOO – “Starry Night” This enchanting clip takes us places, and MAMAMOO’s vocals take us even further away. In this melancholic narrative about painful breakups and the difficulty to move on, the ladies also include a signing key dance as they sign “The stars are shining” while they repeatedly sing “Starry night” in the chorus. 9. SEVENTEEN – “Thanks” What better way to say thank you as an artist than to extend your gratitude to the entire fandom in every language? Signing it surely does the trick! The appearance of signing “thank you” is subtle in SEVENTEEN’s choreography, but you can definitely spot it if you focus enough on the part where the members fervently sing the song’s title on repeat.

Jennie's recent short-cut hairstyle is a hot topic of discussion among netizens

On August 3rd, BLACKPINK's Jennie posted several photos from her ELLE magazine pictorial shoot, on her personal Instagram. In her caption, she wrote, "You know where i got the inspiration from". Then, in her Instagram story, Jennie uploaded a photo of Mia Wallace from the film 'Pulp Fiction', to reveal her inspiration for the photoshoot concept. Like any other typical day, Jennie's style garnered a lot of attention. However, her new short-cut hairstyle especially became a hot topic of discussion among netizens, as it was a bold new look for the BLACKPINK member. Following Jennie's post, netizens discussed Jennie's short-cut hairstyle on a popular online community forum. Many of their opinions on Jennie's bold new look differed. Some of the netizens' comments included:
"Except for her eyebrows, I think her hair and makeup are okay...If it wasn't for the pictorial shoot's concept, I really want to draw her eyebrows for her.." "To those who are writing negative comments...try to do that hairstyle with your own faces." "She didn't try too hard to look pretty, but she has character and it looks nice. I can see Jennie's confidence and boldness so I like it a lot. Celebrities don't always have to act pretty or live with just one type of face." "Yeah, she's so pretty that it's a controversy." "Her hair and makeup don't match at all...I guess you can make pretty people like that too." "It's not Jennie, but her bangs are the weird ones." "Short hairstyle pictorial shoots are usually so pretty..but here, the photos didn't come out that nice. It's very unique though. If I did that hair, I would look like a rural girl, but I don't get those vibes from her." "The bangs...please the bangs!!! Don't put them down." "Didn't she do that styling just for the pictorial shoot? Does she need to always do the same style that looks good on her? Loll She [styled herself] as Mia Wallace, the main character from 'Pulp Fiction'." "Jennie and Rose both look prettier with longer hair and no bangs. The hairstyles that match her are kind of limited." "She should have just done a short cut...Lol"

Alleged Bullying Victim Reveals ITZY’s Manager Contacted Lia’s Classmates To See How She Was Like

The alleged school bullying victim of ITZY’s Lia has updated with a new post online regarding the situation. Person A, who was acquitted after posting a school violence allegation post online about ITZY’s Lia, has uploaded a new post online. On July 27, a post with the title, “I am the person who posted about ITZY Lia’s school violence”, was posted on a Daum cafe. They wrote, “I am the person who posted the article about Lia’s school violence on a different cafe. I debated whether or not to post this because I know that this may be something that some people will forget and do not want to know, but all I wanted was an apology but I am feeling stressed watching her promote without any explanation. She even comes out in my dreams and it seems like everyone is misunderstanding some parts so I decided to correct it through this post.” They continued, “First off, the person that wrote they were bullied was me and another friend A. We did not know each other but we got in touch after each of us posted online. We both received police investigations and shared the process. The police told me to collect as many statements as possible from friends that would prove that I was bullied. I didn’t write it, but a friend who was victimized and a friend who was going to prove that I was bullied submitted a statement.”
They revealed that all they wanted was an apology. “At first, I had to prove that I was bullied and it was hard for me to recall the events that I went through, so after the investigation, I told them that ‘even if this case gets buried I don’t want to do anything anymore and would just like an apology’. But all I got in return was a request for re-investigation from JYP. When I called the detective in charge, they revealed that even after JYP had released a statement regarding the re-investigation, they had not made a separate request for the re-investigation.” They later received news that ITZY’s manager was going around finding out how Lia was like back in middle school. “Then last month, another friend contacted me and told me that ITZY’s manager had contacted friends who graduated from Shinsong middle school to see how Lia was like back then. On June 18, a detective contacted friend A and told them that Lia’s lawyer would like to meet with the both of us. We didn’t want to act hastily so we said that we wanted to receive an apology directly from Lia.” They continued, “Then on June 21, we received a business card from the director of JYP’s Artist Division 2 through the detective in charge. On July 2, I took the courage to call the number through caller ID restrictions and recorded the call. I asked them why they wanted meet now but they avoided the answer and wanted to meet in person to talk. I told them that if it’s not receiving an apology in person from Lia then I didn’t want to meet them. They said that they would consider it as much as they could and only suggested that we meet in person to talk first.” Previously, a post was uploaded to the internet claiming that a famous female idol committed school violence and bullying. JYP responded by denying the accusations made by the poster, but the alleged bullying victim was later cleared of all defamation charges. JYP then updated with a response stating that they would be requesting a reinvestigation of the case.
